There was no surprise when 16th ranked Pertevniyal (8-19) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked ITU Istanbul (13-13) 75-67 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Pertevniyal won third quarter 20-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Pertevniyal 44-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when ITU Istanbul made 7 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Isiah Brown (203-89, college: E.Tenn.St.) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Corsley Edwards (205-79, college: Cent.Conn.St.) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four ITU Istanbul players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Nicholas Covington (188-85, college: Oklahoma City) who recorded 20 points and forward K'Zell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) added 7 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Pertevniyal's coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. ITU Istanbul moved-up to ninth place. Loser Pertevniyal keeps the sixteenth position with 19 games lost. ITU Istanbul's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Istanbul DSI.
