There was a minor upset when 14th ranked Cognac BB (11-17) was defeated on the road by sixteenth ranked Saint-Brieuc (9-19) 85-76 on Tuesday. Cognac BB trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 27-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-85 at the end of the game. Saint-Brieuc made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Saint-Brieuc outrebounded Cognac BB 34-23 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cognac BB was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Antoine Liorel (180-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Jimmy Lupot (190-83) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Five Saint-Brieuc players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Jean-Philippe Ludon (200-83) with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian forward Dejan Sencanski (198-84, college: Abil.Christian) scored 17 points. Newly promoted Saint-Brieuc maintains sixteenth place with 9-19 record. Cognac BB at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Saint-Brieuc will face again higher ranked Cognac BB (#14) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
