Regular Season Round 140: Toronto R. - Atlanta H. 96-86

Date: March 23, 2014
Toronto overcame an 11 point fourth quarter deficit and defeated Atlanta 96-86 in NBA action on Sunday. The win broke a two game home losing streak and moved the Raptors into third place overall in the Eastern Conference. Kyle Lowry once again spearheaded Toronto's attack, scoring a game high 25 points, but his four steals and relentless defensive pressure was key in keeping the game close as the Raptors struggled early in the contest. Shooting guard DeMar DeRozan added 21 points and center Jonas Valanciunas was a big factor in the paint, adding 13 points and 13 rebounds as Toronto improved to 39-30 for the year. Atlanta was led by forwards Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll, both scoring 17 points and combining for 12 rebounds and eight steals. Jeff Teague added 16 points and five assists from the point, but the loss dropped the Hawks to 31-37 and their hold onto the eighth and final spot in the NBA Playoffs dropped to 2.5 games lead over the hot NY Knicks.
