Quarter-Finals Round 2: Haukar - Njardvik 84-88
Date: March 24, 2014
Njardvik toppled Haukar to secure 2-0 lead in the series. Haukar trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 84-88 at the end of the game. Njardvik made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Haukar turnovers and outrebounded them 130-115 including 48 on the offensive glass. Njardvik looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Njardvik made 12 blocks. American forward Tracy Smith (203-89, college: N.Carolina St.) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points, 22 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the effort and the former international Logi Gunnarsson (190-81) supported him with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Njardvik players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks by American forward Terrence Watson (200-87, college: Ball St.) did not help to save the game for Haukar. Guard Emil Barja (192-91) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Haukar's coach Ivar Asgrimsson tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
