Very important is a road loss of second ranked Paulistano (22-9) against fourteenth ranked Minas (10-19) on Thursday night. Visiting Paulistano was defeated by Minas in Belo Horizonte 75-65. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Paulistano. The game was mostly controlled by Minas. Paulistano was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Minas forced 19 Paulistano turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. It was a great evening for point guard Henrique Coelho (182-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. The former international point guard Elinho Corazza (193-89, college: Miami Dade CC) helped adding 10 points and 10 assists. Pilar Alves (200-84) responded with 10 points and 8 rebounds and center Rafael Mineiro Rodrigues (213-87) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Minas maintains fourteenth place with 10-19 record. Paulistano at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. Minas will play against higher ranked Palmeiras (#11) in Sao Paulo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Paulistano will play on the road against Espirito Santo (#17) in Vila Velha and hopes to get back on the winning track.
