There was a surprise result in Dramas where tenth ranked Apollon Patras (10-13) edged higher ranked KAOD (11-12) 83-81 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But KAOD won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KAOD was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for guard Ronald Ross (188-83, college: Texas Tech, agency: LUMANI 10.7) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) helped adding 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Apollon Patras players scored in double figures. Power forward Julian Vaughn (205-88, college: Georgetown) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and point guard J'Covan Brown (185-90, college: Texas) scored 19 points. KAOD's coach Nenad Markovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Apollon Patras moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Aris. Loser KAOD keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Apollon Patras will face higher ranked Nea Kifisia (#5) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
