Regular Season Round 5: Guasave - Navolato 89-86

The biggest surprise of round 5 was guest Frayles de Guasave's (#3) road victory over Garra Canera de Navolato (#4) 89-86 on Friday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Garra Canera de Navolato won fourth quarter 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) who scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Alonso Izaguirre (200-76) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. American forward Dominique Lacy (201-89, college: NC-Wilmington) produced 32 points and the other American import forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 29 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Frayles de Guasave maintains third place with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Hermosillo. Garra Canera de Navolato at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Culiacan. Frayles de Guasave will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Garra Canera de Navolato will play again at home against Frayles de Guasave (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
