Gran Canaria shocked Rivas Ecopolis in the opening game of the best-of-three semifinal series. It looked good early as Rivas Ecopolis took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gran Canaria took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 1 point. Naturalized Senegalese center Astou Ndour (198-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American guard Brittany Chambers (173-91, college: Kansas St.) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. At the losing side Swedish guard Frida Eldebrink (174-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and international center Laura Nicholls (189-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds.
