Regular Season Round 43: Aishin SH - Mitsubishi DD 62-61

Third-ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (24-25) made lots of trouble for first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (37-12) in Kariya. Aishin Sea Horses managed to secure only one-point victory 62-61. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mitsubishi Dolphins. It looked good early as Mitsubishi Dolphins took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aishin Sea Horses had a 16-10 second period charge getting the lead and Mitsubishi Dolphins were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-62. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) contributed with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) answered with 27 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Shunsuke Ito (204-79) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Mitsubishi Dolphins. Mitsubishi Dolphins' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first place with 37-12 record. Mitsubishi Dolphins at the other side keep the third position with 25 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will play against Kumamoto V. (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against the league's second-placed Wakayama T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
