Regular Season Round 25: Aliaga - Mersin 74-82

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 16th ranked Aliaga's (3-22) home loss to fifteenth ranked Mersin (7-18) 74-82 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. Aliaga was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) stepped up and scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and naturalized American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) chipped in 18 points. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Mersin's coach Mete Babaoglu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Serbian power forward Dragan Labovic (207-87, agency: Alti Sport) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Ali Isik (206-90) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Mersin moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Selcuk Univ. Aliaga lost their eighth game in a row. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Mersin will face higher ranked Tofas (#8) in Bursa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aliaga will play on the road against Anadolu Efes (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
