Petrochemi got to a confident start of their playoff campaign. They cruised past Sanaye in the opener. Petrochimi dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Sanaye's 32. They outrebounded Sanaye 51-26 including a 39-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. International point guard Mahdi Kamrani (186-82) stepped up and scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international forward Arsalan Kazemi (200-90, college: Oregon) chipped in 13 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Petrochimi players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international guard Yonas Lalehzadeh (195-89, college: Cal-Irvine) responded with 26 points and the former international Mehrad Atashi (191-86) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
