Sao Jose/Unimed overcame Palmeiras at home court to gain 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series. Palmeiras managed to win fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sao Jose/Vinac made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Palmeiras turnovers. American-Dominican point guard Emmanuel Quezada (188-85, college: USF) scored 24 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Andre Laws (188-80, college: San Diego) chipped in 20 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. Sao Jose/Vinac's coach Luiz Augusto Zanon allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Italian-Argentinian point guard Maximiliano Stanic (178-78, agency: Players Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 assists and 4 steals and the former international Tiago Lima (201-81) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds.
