Round 5 in TBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Zielona Gora where host Stelmet ZG (21-6) edged league's leader PGE Turow (20-7) 84-82 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of PGE Turow. It was a key game for the top position in Places 1-6. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 24-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. 26 personal fouls committed by PGE Turow helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) who scored 21 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. International center Adam Hrycaniuk (206-84, college: Cincinnati, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. The former international power forward Damian Kulig (205-87) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American guard Michael Taylor (186-86, college: Iowa St.) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion keeps a position of Places 1-6 leader. PGE Turow at the other side dropped to the second place with seven games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Slask Wroclaw. PGE Turow will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Stelmet ZG will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked PGE Turow in Zgorzelec.
