Regular Season Round 2: Waikato P. - Taranaki MA 84-62

Date: April 13, 2014
Rather expected game in Hamilton where Taranaki MA (0-3) was crushed by Waikato P. (2-1) 84-62. Taranaki MA was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Taranaki MA was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Akeem Wright (200-84, college: Kansas St.) notched 18 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international forward Casey Frank (203-77, college: N.Arizona) supported him with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Wright is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds by Nigerian-American forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice, agency: Haylett Sports) did not help to save the game for Taranaki MA. American guard Adrian Oliver (193-88, college: San Jose St.) added 16 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Waikato P. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Taranaki MA will play against Nelson G. (#6) to get more than just one victory in their record.
