Regular Season Round 163: Orlando M. - Indiana P. 86-101

Date: April 16, 2014
Lightly regarded forward Rasual Butler scored a season-high 19 points, leading the Indiana Pacers to a 101-86 victory over the hapless Orlando Magic on Wednesday night. Forward Evan Turner had 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists to help the Pacers (56-26) finish the regular season with the best record in the Eastern Conference. Butler and Turner made just their second starts of the season. Indiana already had clinched the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed in the upcoming playoffs on Monday night and were resting three regular starters on Wednesday. The Pacers will open the playoffs this weekend against the No. 8 seeded Atlanta Hawks. Forward Chris Copeland also had 19 points for Indiana. Forward Luis Scola contributed 10 points and eight rebounds. Guard Donald Sloan added 14 points. The Magic (23-59) lost their fourth consecutive game and finished with the third worst record in the league, giving them a 15.6 percent chance of winning the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft lottery. Orlando was led by forward Maurice Harkless, who had 14 points and five rebounds. Reserve guard E'Twaun Moore scored 13 points and center Dewayne Dedmon had a game-high 13 rebounds. The Pacers led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter and took a 75-62 lead into the fourth. Forward Lavoy Allen had 10 points in the third quarter. The Pacers led 46-40 at intermission, hitting 6 of 13 shots from 3-point range. Turner, starting in place of Lance Stephenson, had 11 points at halftime. The Pacers closed the half with a 3-pointer by guard George Hill and a dunk at the buzzer by Butler. Pacers center Roy Hibbert, who struggled during the last month of the season, made only 1 of 7 shots from the field in the first half. He finished with four points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes.
