Second Stage Round 9: Slask Wroclaw - Asseco 75-73

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Asseco (17-14) on the court of second ranked Slask Wroclaw on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by Slask Wroclaw 75-73. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Asseco. It was a key game for the top position in Places 7-12 as both teams had the same 16-14 record before this meeting. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Asseco won third quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American center Paul Miller (208-82, college: Wichita St.) stepped up and scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and the former international swingman Pawel Kikowski (193-86) chipped in 14 points. The best for the losing side was American point guard A.J. Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuanian center Ovidijus Galdikas (217-88) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Asseco players scored in double figures. Asseco's coach David Dedek rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Slask Wroclaw keeps a position of Places 7-12 leader, which they share with Asseco and AZS Koszalin. Slask Wroclaw is looking forward to face AZS Koszalin (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Asseco will play against Stabill Jezioro in Tarnobrzeg and is hoping to win this game.
