Groningen got to a comfortable start of the series clinching a confident home victory in Game 1. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Amsterdam was better in third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Daniel Coleman (206-85, college: Minnesota) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Cashmere Wright (183-90, college: Cincinnati, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Mark Ridderhof (192-89) responded with 24 points and the former international point guard Aaron Roye (185-88) scored 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
