Regular Season Round 7: Brisbane S. - Canberra G. 91-80

Date: April 26, 2014
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Brisbane Spartans (3-5) beat at home 8th ranked Canberra Gunners (1-5) 91-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Brisbane Spartans. Canberra Gunners was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Canberra Gunners were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American forward Zachary Henifin (195-88, college: W.Washington) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Isaih Tueta (192-91) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Brisbane Spartans' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Garlon Green (201-91, college: TCU) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Matt Staff (208, college: Texas St.) added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Canberra Gunners. Five Brisbane Spartans and four Canberra Gunners players scored in double figures. Brisbane Spartans maintains third place in League with 3-5 record having just -11 point less than leader Brisbane C. Loser Canberra Gunners keep the eighth position with five games lost. Brisbane Spartans will face BA CoE (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Canberra Gunners will play against Dandenong Rangers and hope to win that game.
