Bauru came up with a big upset in the first round of the quarterfinal series edging big-time favourites Flamengo on the road. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 25-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Point guard Ricardo Fischer (185-91) fired 10 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international power forward Murilo Becker (210-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Paschoalotto/Bauru's coach Jorge Guerra used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American center Jerome Meyinsse (206-88, college: Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and the former international Marcelo Magalhaes (201-75, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Five Paschoalotto/Bauru and four Flamengo players scored in double figures.
