Azad held off visiting Zob Ahan to take 1-0 lead in the Bronze medals series. The hosts were ahead by 9 points but lost the second period ending it with a 10-point deficit before their 22-8 run, which allowed them to win the game. Azad dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Zob Ahan's 30. Azad forced 20 Zob Ahan turnovers. Strangely Zob Ahan outrebounded Azad 43-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. Zob Ahan was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Senegalese forward Ibrahima Thomas (210-87, college: Cincinnati) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Anthony Grundy (189-79, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 24 points and 5 assists. At the losing side power forward Amir Abbas Mohabbat (200-83) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and international power forward Rouzbeh Arghavan (214-88) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Zob Ahan players scored in double figures.
