Palma cruised past Castello in the opening game of the semifinal series. Palma led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Castello's 38. They outrebounded Castello 43-23 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Palma players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American power forward Jason Blair (201-79, college: San Diego) nailed 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and center Antoni Vicens (203-90) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Alberto Ausina (203-81) came up with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Olasumbo Atoyebi (203-87, college: Elon) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Castello in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
