Inter Bratislava earned the opening victory in Extraliga Finals. They rallied past Prievidza in the opener. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 44-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Inter Bratislava dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Prievidza's 22. They outrebounded Prievidza 41-25 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international power forward Martin Rancik (206-78, college: Iowa St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Czech center Ondrej Starosta (215-79) chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds. Five Inter Bratislava players scored in double figures. At the losing side Croatian swingman Marko Batina (198-86) responded with 15 points and Danish guard Mikkel Plannthin (195-88) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
