Sokhumi edged Kutaisi at home court to take 2-1 lead in the quarterfinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Sokhumi. Kutaisi managed to win second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kutaisi to just 6 points in first quarter. Sokhumi shot 20 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Kutaisi only scored three points from the stripe. They outrebounded Kutaisi 53-38 including a 40-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international center Beka Bekauri (207-91) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds.
