Maccabi Haifa overcame visiting Ironi Nes-Ziona in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Haifa. Ironi Nes-Ziona managed to win third quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Haifa dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ironi Nes-Ziona's 32. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
