Groningen defeated Leiden on the road to force the decisive fifth game in the semifinal series. Leiden was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 21-14 charge of Groningen, which allowed them to win the game. Groningen outrebounded Leiden 37-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian power forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). American point guard Cashmere Wright (183-90, college: Cincinnati, agency: Three Eye Sports) contributed with 13 points for the winners. American forward Michael Schachtner (203-86, college: Green Bay) replied with 21 points and his fellow American import guard Robert Holcomb Faye (185-84, college: Radford) added 12 points and 6 assists in the effort for Leiden.
