Armia snatched a narrow home victory over Kutaisi in the semifinal series opener. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-19. But Kutaisi won second period 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Armia looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international Zviad Babiashvili (200-78) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and international center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Armia players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Levan Tsekvava (190-89) responded with 20 points and 5 assists and center Avtandili Lominashvili (204-92) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field).
