ALBA cruised past Ratiopharm Ulm in the opener. ratiopharm Ulm was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 49-25 second half run of ALBA Berlin. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to ratiopharm Ulm's 30. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Jan-Hendrik Jagla (212-81, college: Penn St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. American swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International point guard Per Guenther (185-88) answered with 14 points and 5 assists and the former international Daniel Theis (204-92) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for ratiopharm Ulm. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
