Shiga L-Stars made another step towards the semifinal stage as they downed Kyoto Hannar. on the road in the opener. Kyoto Hannar. was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. American guard Brandon Fields (193-88, college: Nevada) stepped up and scored 32 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Shelton Colwell (202-80, college: Missouri St.) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Shiga L-Stars' coach Chris Boettcher allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican swingman Edwin Ubiles (198-86, college: Siena) responded with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward David Palmer (201-82, college: S.Utah) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
