Semi-Finals Game 1: Wakayama T. - Aishin SH 68-67 OT

Wakayama snatched an overtime victory over Aishin Sea Horses to surge ahead in the semifinal series. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime then Aishin Sea Horses managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Wakayama T. who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 10-9. They also forced 76 Aishin Sea Horses turnovers. Strangely Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded Wakayama T. 65-53 including 25 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Wakayama T. made 23 blocks. 85 personal fouls committed by Aishin Sea Horses helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) (made all of his fifteen free throws !!!) for the winners and American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 12 points and 18 rebounds. At the losing side the former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Makoto Hiejima (190-90) scored 18 points and 7 steals. Aishin Sea Horses' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
