Quarter-Finals Round 1: Toyama Grouses - Niigata Albirex 83-69

Toyama Grouses held off Niigata Albirex to take 1-0 lead in the quarterfinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Toyama Grouses. Niigata Albirex managed to win second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Niigata Albirex 45-25 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and guard Tatsunori Tatsunori (184-87) accounted for 16 points. American center Patrick Sullivan (206-88, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Two Points) came up with 27 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Niigata Albirex in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
