Regular Season Round 6: Waikato P. - Hub Jets 73-72

The most exciting game of round 6 in the NBL took place in Hamilton. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Jets (2-6) to sixth ranked Pistons (4-3) 73-72 on Sunday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Jets won second period 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Pistons especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was American swingman Akeem Wright (200-84, college: Kansas St.) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import point guard Corin Henry (180-88, college: Tarleton St.) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Wright is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Jeremiah Trueman (204-87, college: Alaska-Anch.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American guard Brandon Jenkins (191-85, college: Louisville) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively. Four Jets players scored in double figures. Pistons moved-up to fourth place, which they share with OceanaGold N. and Southland S. Jets at the other side keep the eighth position with six games lost. Pistons is looking forward to face Nuggets (#4) in Dunedin in the next round. Jets will have a break next round.
