Quarter-Finals Round 2: Aalstar - Liege 83-79

Aalstar snatched a narrow home win over Liege and forced the decisive third game in the quarterfinal series. It looked good early as Liege Basket took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Okapi Aalstar had a 21-16 second period charge getting the lead and Liege Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-83. Okapi Aalstar made 26-of-30 charity shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Strangely Liege Basket outrebounded Okapi Aalstar 38-21 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Liege Basket was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Da'Sean Butler (201-88, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) notched 25 points to lead the effort and Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) supported him with 11 points and 5 assists. Four Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds by center Kenneth Simms (205-86, college: Cumberland, agency: Two Points) did not help to save the game for Liege Basket. Guard Mike Smith (198-87, college: E.Tenn.St.) added 16 points and 8 rebounds for the guests.
