Regular Season Round 30: Tijuana - Nogales 87-73

Date: May 21, 2014
The game with biggest result difference took place in Tijuana. Local Tijuana Zonkeys (19-7) beat 6th ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (11-17) 87-73. The game was mostly controlled by Tijuana Zonkeys. Fuerza Guinda Nogales was better in third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was also dominated by American players. Forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Robert Hornsby (201-82, college: Troy) supported him with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) did not help to save the game for Fuerza Guinda Nogales. Guard Sherwood Brown (195-91, college: FGCU) added 8 points and 10 rebounds. Five Tijuana Zonkeys and four Fuerza Guinda Nogales players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-7 record having five points less than leader Hermosillo. Fuerza Guinda Nogales at the other side keep the sixth place with 17 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys' next round opponent will be Ostioneros de Guaymas (#7) on the road where they are favorite. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play against Caballeros de Culiacan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
