Maccabi Tel-Aviv fired past Hapoel Eilat to take 1-0 lead in the series. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. Hapoel Eilat was better in second period 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Eilat was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Georgian point guard Richard Hickman (189-85, college: NC-Greensboro) nailed 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American-Montenegrin point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll., agency: Priority Sports) accounted for 17 points and 5 assists. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the other American import forward Christian Watford (206-91, college: Indiana) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Hapoel Eilat in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures.
