Semi-Finals Game 1: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi Haifa 79-107

Maccabi Haifa cruised past Hapoel Jerusalem for the opening win in the series. The game without a history. Maccabi Haifa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Jerusalem's 22. Maccabi Haifa forced 20 Hapoel Jerusalem turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi Haifa especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international Dagan Yavzuri (193-85) stepped up and scored 25 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (200-83, college: SE Illinois JC) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side American point guard Derwin Kitchen (193-86, college: Florida St.) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Yotam Halperin (196-84) scored 18 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Five Maccabi Haifa and four Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
