Finals Game 1: Panathinaikos - Olympiacos 59-56

Panathinaikos held off Olympiacos in Athens to surge ahead in the A1 Finals. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-6. But Olympiacos won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panathinaikos dominated on the defensive end, holding Olympiacos to just 6 points in first quarter. They made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game, while Olympiacos only scored five points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by Olympiacos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Lithuanian swingman Jonas Maciulis (198-85) fired 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Gabonese center Stephane Lasme (203-82, college: Massachusetts) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Mardy Collins (198-84, college: Temple) produced 7 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import power forward Bryant Dunston (203-86) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
