Quarter-Finals Round 2: Sorgues - Vichy 90-84 OT

Date: May 23, 2014
Sorgues needed overtime to tame Vichy at home court as they swept the quarterfinal series. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-17. But JA Vichy won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where JA Vichy used huge pressure winning it 19-10 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 4-10. Sorgues BC made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 JA Vichy turnovers and outrebounded them 35-23 including 21 on the defensive glass. JA Vichy was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Aaron Broussard (195-90, college: Seattle) orchestrated the victory by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. American-British power forward Tafari Toney (203-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. point guard Benjamin Thomas (181-82) replied with 15 points and 4 assists and point guard Rida El Amrani (180-86) added 16 points in the effort for JA Vichy. Four Sorgues BC and five JA Vichy players scored in double figures. JA Vichy's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
