Semi-Finals Game 2: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel J-M 82-70

Date: May 27, 2014
Maccabi Haifa fired past Hapoel Jerusalem to gain 2-0 lead in the semifinal series. It looked good early as Hapoel Jerusalem took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Maccabi Haifa had a 21-12 second period charge getting the lead and Hapoel Jerusalem was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-82. Maccabi Haifa players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Hapoel Jerusalem was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (200-83, college: SE Illinois JC) notched 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and American forward Brian Randle (203-85) supported him with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Maccabi Haifa's coach Danny Franco allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds by American Josh Duncan (203-86) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Jerusalem. His fellow American import guard Bracey Wright (191-84, college: Indiana, agency: Priority Sports) added 14 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Five Maccabi Haifa and four Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures.
