Valencia overcame a fierce opposition from Cajasol to advance into the semifinal stage of the tournament. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cajasol won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Valencia Basket made 9 blocks. 42 personal fouls committed by Cajasol helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Oliver Lafayette (188-84, college: Houston, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 4 assists. Central African swingman Romain Sato (194-81, college: Xavier) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Czech point guard Tomas Satoransky (201-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 assists and American swingman Scott Bamforth (188-89, college: Weber St.) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Cajasol. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
