Regular Season Round 17: Shaanxi W. - Changsha Bank 91-80

There was no surprise in Xian where 6th ranked Changsha Bank (7-10) was defeated by third ranked Shaanxi W. (13-4) 91-80 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Shaanxi W.. Changsha Bank managed to win third quarter 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Changsha Bank 48-35 including 35 on the defensive glass. American center Keith Benson (210-88, college: Oakland) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 30 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Bateer Mengke (210-75) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and guard Yan Gao (190-93) scored 18 points. Changsha Bank's coach Ed Terusi tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Shaanxi W. have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Jiangsu TX. Loser Changsha Bank dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Shaanxi W. will meet Hang Sen Guayzhou (#4) in the next round. Changsha Bank will play against the league's leader Chongqing FD and hope to secure a win.
