Preliminary Round Day 3: BRAZIL - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 69-72

Dominican Republic gained the second victory at the U18 FIBA Americas tournament. They held off Brazil to secure the second-place finish in Group A. Dominican Republic will now face a tough test against the USA in the semifinal clash. Brazil were coming off two straight defeats at the start of the tournament. They got to a quick start willing to leave those losses behind. Brazil accumulated a 22:19 lead ten minutes into the game. But Dominican Republic adjusted defensively and grabbed a 35:33 halftime lead. Brazil erased the deficit as the teams entered the fourth stanza tied at 51. Dominican Republic sank 21 points in the final quarter and escaped with a narrow victory at the end. Jeromy Rodriguez provided 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Jhonatan Araujo had 15 points in the victory. George Alves answered with 25 points and 8 rebounds for Brazil. Lucas De Souza had 13 points in the defeat.
