Puerto Rico celebrated the fifth place at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship. They held off Brazil in the final game at the torney. Arnaldo Toro stepped up with 19 points and 12 rebounds to pace Puerto Rico to a tough overtime win. Puerto Rico got to a strong start. They jumped to a 27:16 lead ten minutes into the game. But Brazil bounced back in the second quarter. They poured in 30 points and grabbed a 46:45 halftime advantage. Puerto Rico regained the lead in the third term. They eked out a 60:59 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Brazil erased the deficit and sent the game into overtime. However Puerto Rican youngsters sank 14 points in the extra period and secured the winning outcome. Ivan Gandia produced 16 points, while Jose Morales added 12 points for the winners. George Alves and Wesley Alves delivered 15 points each for Brazil.
