The ASEAN League 2014/15 season got under way today. The Bangkok City Hi-Tech hosted Westports Malaysia Dragons in the opener. The 2013 MVP Christien Charles stepped up with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks to pace Bangkok City to a 6-point home victory. The Dragons got to a quick start. They raced to a 20:13 lead after the opening quarter. But Hi-Tech turned things around in the second quarter. They sparked with a 24:7 run to take a 37:27 halftime lead. Bangkok City unloaded 24 points in the third term to gain a 16-point lead at the final break. Chris Eversley pulled the Dragons within 4 in the fourth period but the hosts held on to the advantage and escaped with the victory at the end. Steve Thomas produced 17 points, while Attaporn Lertmalaiporn had 15 points for the home side. Chris Eversley responded with game-high 31 points for the Dragons. Justin Knox connected for 15 points in the loss.
