Puerto Rico opened win count at the 2014 Centrobasket in Mexico. They held off Bahamas in the opener. Jose Juan Barea nailed 19 points to pace the winners. Puerto Rico posted a 19:10 lead ten minutes into the game. They stretched the gap in the second quarter. Puerto Rico built a 42:24 halftime advantage. Bahamas however went off the dressing room firing from all guns. They unloaded 25 points to pull within 16 points. Puerto Rico lived up to the challenge scoring 23 points in the final stanza and sealing a comfortable victory. Filiberto Rivera produced 12 points, while Alejandro Carmona added 11 points fro Puerto Rico. Chavano Hield responded with game-high 30 points for Bahamas. Marvin Gray had 11 points in the loss.
