Aron Baynes scored 21 points to pace Australia past Mexico in the fourth round of action in Group D. Australia therefore improved at 3-1 record in the standings. The teams traded baskets throughout close first half. Australia led by a single point at the interval 33:32. But the Boomers went off the dressing room with a mission. They went on a 26:13 run in the third term and cleared off. Mexico slowed their opponents in the fourth period and cut the deficit but could not avoid the defeat at the end. Ryan Broekhoff had 12 points for the Boomers. Gustavo Ayon answered with 11 points and 9 rebounds for Mexico. Jorge Gutierrez and Orlando Mendez-Valdez had 10 points each in the loss.
