Jose Juan Barea dropped 30 points to pace Puerto Rico to the first victory at the World Cup. They outlasted Philippines for 1-3 record. Philippines ensured a comfortable 25:13 lead after the first period. But Puerto Rico triggered a 48:32 run in the next two periods to pull ahead. They limited Philippines to just 16 points in the fourth stanza and raced to the victory at the end. David Huertas and Ricardo Sanchez accounted for 13 points each for Puerto Rico. Andray Blatche responded with 25 points and 14 rebounds for Philippines. Lewis Tenorio had 18 points in the defeat.
