Regular Season Round 1: Quimper - Avignon-Sorgues 90-87

Quimper UJAP used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Sorgues 90-87 on Saturday night. Sorgues BC was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-21 charge of Quimper UJAP, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Sorgues BC was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) who helped to win the game recording 26 points. His fellow American import center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. Canadian guard Warren Ward (196-89) answered with 31 points and 6 rebounds and center Xavier Pasut (200-84) added 19 points in the effort for Sorgues BC. Quimper UJAP will face Saint Chamond on the road in the next round. Sorgues BC will play against Mulhouse Basket and hope to win that game.
