Date: October 4, 2014
Very important is a road loss of Sixers (1-1) against Rostock EBC (1-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Sixers were defeated by Rostock EBC in Rostock 88-74. Rostock EBC dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Sixers' 30. Rostock EBC forced 20 Sixers turnovers and outrebounded them 33-21 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. DR Congolese-Canadian forward Yannick Anzuluni (205-87, college: Houghton) notched 24 points to lead the effort and point guard Sven Hellmann (187-83) supported him with 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Even 18 points and 4 assists by Robert Zinn (196-95) did not help to save the game for Sixers. Canadian point guard Tristan Blackwood (183-85) added 15 points and 6 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rostock EBC's next round opponent will be Magdeburg on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sixers will play against RSV Eintracht in Stahnsdorf and hope to win that game.
