Haukar smashed Grindavik in Hafnarfjordur 97-77. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. Grindavik managed to win second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Grindavik 54-33 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Haukar looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Grindavik's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Alex Francis (198-91, college: Bryant, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 20 rebounds. Guard Haukur Oskarsson (194-91) contributed with 27 points and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Joel Haywood (193, college: Concordia, NE) answered with 19 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Omar Saevarsson (198-82) added 11 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Grindavik. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Grindavik will play next round against Skallagrimur trying to get back on the winning streak. Haukar will try to continue on its current victory against Snaefell in Stykkisholmur.
