Mitsubishi Dolphins used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Saporro 77-69 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 50-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Mitsubishi Dolphins made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game, while Hokkaido L. only scored nine points from the stripe. Strangely Hokkaido L. outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 45-28 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hokkaido L. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and American forward Brendan Lane (206-90, college: Pepperdine) chipped in 16 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side Canadian center Chad Posthumus (211-91, college: Morehead St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mitsubishi Dolphins will face again Hokkaido L. in Saporro in the next round.
